After the storks
Vanessa knew almost nothing about her. Only a solemn face in an old photograph, a family record book with yellowed pages, and a first name from a distant country: Poland. This woman was her grandmother. There were no family albums, no stories passed down, almost no memories. Just an absence. Years later, having become a mother herself, Vanessa felt that void return in a different way. Something was resisting. Motherhood did not resemble the ready-made images. The expected certainty did not come. So she decided to leave.
